3000 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27610 | 919-948-9877

RMH follows the COVID guidelines of WakeMed Children’s Hospital.

Notify us immediately if someone in your family has symptoms of illness.

  • Child is inpatient at the WakeMed campus on New Bern Avenue
  • Patient is newborn to age 18
  • You live at least 25 miles from the hospital
  • House guests are parents, guardians, and other adult directly involved in the care of the patient
  • A referral has been submitted by social worker or case manager to RMH at WakeMed

Please ask your WakeMed social worker or case manager to submit a referral on our website.

Our staff will review the referral and call you to confirm room availability and check-in information. A referral is not a guarantee of a room.

If your family member is scheduled for surgery, you may make the referral request ahead of time. Availability cannot be guaranteed, so it is always best to have a backup plan. We will communicate the expected availability as the date approaches to assist in your planning.

Ronald McDonald House does not charge families to stay. Families may make a small donation if they wish, but it is not requested. Eligibility to stay is never based on a family’s ability to donate.

WakeMed’s generous in-kind donation of rooms covers the cost of lodging; toiletries and other items are donation by our community of friends.

Your room will have fresh towels and bed linens when you check in, and hotel-style housekeeping services are provided.

Each room has two queen beds, a private bathroom, small refrigerator, television, and a table for work or eating.

The WakeMed Heart Center Inn provides hotel-style housekeeping services. We ask that you remove the do-not-disturb sign from your door so housekeeping staff can freshen your room.

RMH has pack-and-plays that you are welcome to use during your stay. You will need to bring your own crib-size bedding.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room provides coffee, snacks, and light meals. Cafeteria vouchers will be provided to offset your meal costs during your stay.

Families are only able to have one room at Ronald McDonald House.

Check in with the front desk as we often have toiletries and other items you may have left at home to make your stay more comfortable.

Your newborn’s care team will be able to assist you with your breast pump needs.

You are welcome to come and go as you please.

There is a vending area near your room where you will find snacks, ice maker, and a microwave.

Staff are available at the front desk or by calling 919-350-7777.

There is a laundry area near your room. You may request soap at the front desk.

Inside the hospital you will find a pharmacy and a gift shop. There is a CVS and a Walgreens across the street. Down the road on New Bern Ave, you will find Food Lion, Walmart, and other shopping options.
